Republican River and
Area Lakes
Camping, kayaking, boating, skiing, swimming, picnicking, hiking, fishing and hunting are just some of the great opportunities that will be enjoyed while visiting Dundy County.

The Republican River meanders near Benkelman and provides natural beauty, life for crops and wildlife, and recreation. Kayakers and anglers, in particular, enjoy the this area in southwest Nebraska with three lakes located within a short distance of Benkelman: Rock Creek Lake, Enders Reservoir and Swanson Reservoir.
Hunting
Southwest Nebraska is well known for its excellent pheasant and deer hunting. The Republican River offers diverse habitat for waterfowl hunting as well. With a broad diversity of species and seasons, all hunters in southwest Nebraska can have a busy and bountiful year.
Home-owned Carnival & Fair
Honoring a tradition established in 1903, the citizens of Dundy County gather once a year in late July for an exhibition of outstanding livestock, garden vegetables and fruits, home making creations and for a top notch program of rodeo, stock car racing, hometown carnival, musical performance, free barbecue, games, Supercross racing action, and much more!
Zorn Theatre
is a volunteer-based, non-profit theater established to provide an affordable venue for the arts that contributes to the revitalization of downtown Benkelman. Click photo for more information and current showings.
Benkelman Golf Course
is a scenic 9-hole course located three miles east of Benkelman along the Republican River. The course has minimal fees, no tee time required and carts available.
Benkelman City Pool &
Area Swim Team Association
The pool is a popular place during the summer heat for youth and adults alike. The Area Swim Team allows youth to experience the excitement of being part of a competivite team with weekly practices, regular meets and the chance to compete against other youth. Pool Phone: (308) 423-2406
Benkelman Ball Association
is a program of service to youth in our community. It is geared to provide an positive outlet of healthy activity and training under quality leadership from volunteers.
Sage Hill Vineyard & Winery
is a unique local destination that is an area favorite. Featuring nine handcrafted wines, this small family-operated vineyard and winery is located in western Dundy County, Nebraska overlooking Rock Creek Lake.
Haigler Bluegrass Festival
gathers each summer at the community park featuring talented musicians. In addition to amazing music, the festival features local craft beer, delicious local food, and more. Haigler is just 25 short miles west of Benkelman.
